My day starts off from a 2.5 hour drive from Houston. I bought the ticket before the Houston show was announced, which annoys me. Houston always has a problem scheduling things...always a week or two late. Anyway, I get to Austin around 3, and my girlfriend and I get a meal. Around 5, we were passing by Emo's to find a cheap spot to park, and my girlfriend, Reyna, yelled "There's Chino!" I looked and saw him. This is a big deal to me since I have been a Deftones fan since the Warped Tour days.
Anyway, I speed up, made a u-turn in the middle of the street, stopped the car, told Reyna to get out and get him. Well, when I finally park in front of Emo's, he was already gone. We waited outside the back door to see if he would come out. About 45 minutes later, he came out and I got to meet him. He was really laid back, very contrasting to his on-stage persona. Later I got pictures with Todd and Zack, who were also real down-to-earth. Todd was pretty funny.
Now, to the concert review. Strike Him Centurion were all instrumental, and
very melodic. Fairly mellow, they had a slideshow in the background showing clips from old greats such as Full Metal Jacket and Akira. Man, I haven't seen a jap anime since early 90's!
After SHC, it was about an hour and 20 mike checks later until Team Sleep
came out. They started off with a hard-hitting, yet melodic instrumental, and that flowed into Your Skull is Red. The pics I posted are from that song. Team Sleep played other songs such as King Diamond, Ever, Blvd. Nights, and Our Ride to the Rectory. King Diamond was awesome. It gave a perlude to the new Deftones, with Chino showing he can still scream. Made my spine tingle. Another song they played that I loved was Liquid. This was one of the songs they did not release due to the excessive leak, no pun intended.
Overall, Team Sleep was awesome. Besides the couple in front of me that
seemed to be rolling, the concert was incredible. I definitely would enjoy seeing them again. - Nathaniel Jolliff

Okay so I get to see team sleep again in Austin, TX . So my dad and my friend nelda go with me to the show. We go early to go eat BBQ at the salt lick oh my god great BBQ and it was BYOB what more could you ask for. So we start to drive downtown Austin but the traffic was so bad it took us a long time and we had to stop at 7-11 cause we don’t have those in San Antonio we had to get the new slurpee. So we get to 6th street where emo’s is we see the team sleep bus and people started getting in line so did we. I saw Todd walking back to the bus and people really didn’t know who he was I said hello and he was cool. We get in the place but they didn’t let anyone go to the stage yet so we wait and they open the doors and I go right for the left side cause I knew chino would be right there. The 1st band Strike Him Centurion was great I loved them . So emo’s is really hot in is outside and it took a long time for team sleep to come out but when they did all the cam’s went off so I took mine out I got some great pic’s. I met some really cool girls I went to high school with. The sound was bad sorry to say chino’s mic went out and he couldn’t hear himself. But I still loved it. At the end the crowd grab the mic stand to get chino’s pic but they where like breaking it and me and the girl next to me where trying to grab it and put it back on the stage and someone took his
mic but they got it back. That made me just hate Austin that more . My friend nelda got a pic from one of the sound guys. So we go to my truck to get some drinks and go around where the bus was and todd and Rick and dj crook where out there so my friend took pics with them and chino came out and everyone ran to him. Nelda just waiting a pic with chino but he went back into the bus. So people left and after a awhile he came back out but he had to go run inside but he said he would be back and he waved to me like I will come back. So he was inside and Juan was just outside talking to him he is a cool guy too they all are.
Chino comes out and people are taking pic’s and he gets to the door and I was all chino my friend wants a pic so he takes one with her and I was all omg will you take a pic with me and my dad and you the two men I love in life I so said that too and nelda took it but chino said he wasn’t looking and he was all take other one. Chino is great to his fans and so was everyone in team sleep if you can go see them go it will so be worth the money. - Darbi
